Cockatoo boxed by Cornell has words for Mary’s parrot

Taught the language of Narcissus
handsome boy    foxy bird
and the language of false love
pretty Mary    looking good
living curiosity  the parrot waddle
what if we didn’t make them smile    what if

I speak as effigy
silence insulated    [not a bad construction]
eyes out  processes in    eyes out eternal in
flock or nothing    nuts and corms or nothing
what if objectify means death

was it the idea of flight    of beauty in someone’s eye
that got us here

was it loneliness or else
