Kip Deeds grew up in Newtown, Pennsylvania, received an M.F.A. in visual arts from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and has exhibited his work nationally. His work is included in the permanent collections of the Newark Museum in New Jersey and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Deeds is currently a lecturer of visual arts at Princeton University.
